Job summary

McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. seeks a Risk Manager to support Renewables and Battery Storage projects from our Phoenix office. The role focuses on reviewing contracts, advising on risk transfer and insurance coverage, and coordinating with leadership, legal, and brokers to mitigate project risk.

The successful candidate will analyze bid documents, prepare executive summaries, negotiate terms, and manage risk across the project lifecycle, including CCIP programs and claims support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
• Minimum of 7 yrs. experience in a similar role for a Contractor, Broker, or Insurance Co.
• Insurance designations a plus, e.g., CPCU, ARM, CRIS.
• Experience within the Construction Industry, in particular Renewables or Industrial preferred.
• Familiarity with EPC Agreements preferred.
• Understanding of construction industry insurance products and terminology.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be able to provide a high level of service to our internal and external customers.
• Experience with large deductible insurance programs.
• Knowledge and ability to review and provide contractual analysis.
• Strong financial acumen.

Responsibilities

• Review bid documents and specifications for new contracts.
• Prepare Executive Summaries for Senior Management after bid review.
• Review insurance coverage issues with Corporate Legal and leadership; participate in contract negotiations.
• Evaluate insurance pricing and coverage for new pursuits.
• Create insurance bid specs for brokers to obtain project coverage.
• Review and approve project-specific policy forms.
• Assess Owner-supplied and Subcontractor insurance; identify gaps and propose solutions.
• Assist with CCIP development, implementation, and monitoring at projects.
• Ensure project coverage and bonds throughout lifecycle and ER/CO period.
• Assist in insurance applications and renewals.
