Qualifications

  • Experience in the construction industry, Renewables or Industrial preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPC agreements preferred.
  • Understanding of construction industry insurance products and terminology.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to provide high level of service to internal and external customers.
  • Experience with large deductible insurance programs.
  • Knowledge to review and provide contractual analysis.
  • Strong financial acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze bid documents and specifications for new contracts.
  • Prepare detailed executive summaries for senior management.
  • Review insurance coverage issues related to contracts and agreements with legal and leadership.
  • Evaluate and direct insurance pricing and coverage recommendations for pursuits.
  • Create insurance bid specs for brokers to market coverage by project or company.
  • Review, negotiate and approve project-specific policy forms.
  • Assess owner-supplied insurance and subcontractor policies for coverage gaps.
  • Assist with CCIP program development and monitoring at project sites.
  • Ensure project coverage and bonds are managed through lifecycle and ERPs.
  • Assist with insurance renewals and policy negotiations.
  • Contribute data for annual property and casualty renewals.
  • Maintain RMIS records and project data.

Postion Summary

McCarthy Holdings, Inc. is currently searching for a Risk Manager to support its Renewables and Battery Storage (BESS) Business Units located in our Phoenix office.

Responsibilities

The Risk Manager is primarily responsible for the timely and accurate review, analysis and write-ups of contractual language for new construction projects. This position evaluates and recommends the appropriate risk transfer, risk financing and/or risk mitigation techniques considered necessary for each project. This is a highly visible position that requires interaction with Project Executives, Estimators, Business Unit Leadership, Legal, EVP of Risk Management, CFO and McCarthy’s brokers.

  • Review and analyze Bid Documents and Specifications for new contracts.
  • Prepare detailed Executive Summary upon completion of review of bid documents for Senior Management.
  • Review insurance coverage issues related to construction contracts, lease agreements, subcontract agreements and consultant agreements with Corporate Legal, Business Unit Leadership and Construction Project Management and actively participate in contract negotiations.
  • Evaluate, initiate and direct the appropriate insurance pricing and coverage recommendations for all new pursuits.
  • Create insurance bid specifications that can be marketed by the company’s insurance broker to provide appropriate coverage on a project basis and/or company wide.
  • Review, negotiate and approve project specific policy forms that will be bound to protect the project and in turn the company.
  • Evaluate Owner supplied insurance (i.e., builders’ risk, OCIP) and other project specific insurance as well as Subcontractor furnished insurance policies in order to ensure the adequacy of such coverage and to identify any gaps in coverage; recommend alternatives and solutions.
  • Assist the broker with the development, implementation and management of company sponsored Contractor Controlled Insurance Programs (CCIPs), including the ongoing financial evaluation of programs as well as the roll out and monitoring of the program at the project site.
  • Ensure that all project specific insurance coverage and bonds are managed throughout the lifecycle of the project and the respective extended reporting period and/or completed operations period.
  • Assist with completing all required insurance applications for coverage renewals.
  • Assist in the review, comparison and negotiation of all McCarthy purchased insurance policies.
  • Assist with the compilation/development of data for the company’s annual renewal of the property and casualty insurance program.
  • Compile and maintain statistical reports as required.
  • Participate / lead insurance and risk transfer training with Field Operation partners.
  • Maintain project records in Risk Management Information System (RMIS) to keep information current and accurate and manage assigned tasks.
  • Assist Claims Team in the investigation, handling and disposition of liability claims, including litigated matters.
  • Assist Claim Team in responding to inquiries from the project site and Legal Department to identify the appropriate policy and notice to the proper insurance company.
  • Assist Claim Team in the management of McCarthy’s third-party administrator on liability losses.
Qualifications
