Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist – Construction Property to join our Specialties Construction team in Chicago or Minneapolis. The role is hybrid, with flexibility to balance office and market engagement with agents and brokers across the Midwest.

The candidate will handle Builders Risk and Fixed Property/ Inland Marine accounts, serve as a SME, and collaborate with LOB partners to manage referrals, grow opportunities and meet customer needs.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent with 1+ years in underwriting/market facing or 2+ years in claims/underwriting support or Zurich certifications with Associate Degree
• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills preferred

Responsibilities

• Administer underwriting rules, guidelines, laws and rating rules
• Develop and maintain referrals with brokers and agents
• Provide guidance to lower level associates
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities
• Negotiate terms and close deals
• Cross-sell other lines of business to increase account density
• Serve as Zurich contact for assigned target accounts
• Travel as required
• Maintain a valid driver’s license
