Job summary

Zurich North America is seeking an experienced Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter, Construction PL, to join our Specialties Construction team. This role offers a hybrid schedule and can be based out of any Zurich office location within our South or Western regions.

The position focuses on underwriting rule administration, collaboration with line of business reps, and proactive renewal/opportunity seeking, with the possibility of guidance to junior staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 3+ years in underwriting or market facing area, or 6+ years in claims or underwriting support.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and experience in underwriting or market facing area.
• Knowledge of line of business and regulatory guidelines.
• Knowledge of time constraints for quotes on new and renewal business.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Administer and monitor underwriting rules and guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating annual rules.
• Develop, maintain & collaborate with Line of Business representatives on referrals and other business needs.
• May provide guidance to lower level associates.
• Develop and maintain relationships with distributors (agents & brokers) to support retention and acquisition.
• Support the sales culture by being a Help Point for agents, brokers and customers.
• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization’s appetite with sound business opportunity.
• Make broker/customer and on-site calls with planned purpose.
