Job summary

Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) Crawfordsville District is seeking a seasoned construction project lead. You will develop and manage plans, oversee inspectors, and ensure project delivery within scope and budget.

This role emphasizes coordination with contractors, agencies, and stakeholders. Typical responsibilities include overseeing budgets up to $5 million, producing comprehensive documentation, and applying best practices in construction management.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience in construction management or a similar role.
• Broad knowledge of construction management methods, materials, safety, scheduling, specifications, contract documents, estimating, and cost analysis.
• Ability to manage projects with emphasis on cost control, project delivery, and scheduling.
• Managerial and communication skills.
• Knowledge of construction regulations and best practices.
• Knowledge of scheduling, CAD (CADD), field layout, submittal review, project quantities, procurement, equipment tracking, and building design/planning.
• Ability to use construction management software (e.g. Site Manager).
• Understanding the impact of construction on projects and environments.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute construction project plans, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, schedules, and resources.
• Oversee day-to-day construction issues and direct inspectors.
• Create and maintain detailed project documentation including contracts, permits, progress reports, and pay estimates.
• Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences related to construction.
• Coordinate activities between contractor, agency, and stakeholders and resolve field issues.
• Provide guidance to ensure projects are constructed per plans, within budget, and compliant with policies.
