Job summary

Austin Industries is seeking a Project Manager in Texas to lead project teams and manage relationships with customers, owners, engineers, vendors, and service suppliers. You will oversee contract administration, change control, and forecasting, while mentoring staff and ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery.

The role requires a four-year technical degree, PMP certification (or willingness to obtain within a year), and strong scheduling, cost control, and communication skills.

Qualifications

  • Four year degree in technical discipline.
  • PMP certified or able to achieve certification within 1 year.
  • Collegiate-level computer skills, mathematics, communication, and technical writing.
  • Understanding of engineering or construction principles.
  • Ability to read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to forecast cost for self-performed work and determine labor/resources.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and building codes.
  • Experience managing Lump Sum, Unit Price, Time & Material projects.
  • Ability to contribute to project pursuit and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Read the prime contract and ensure all reporting obligations and deliverables are met.
  • Set up and manage document control system; coordinate with IT for project folders and access.
  • Develop detailed scope of work for subcontracts with technical docs and reporting requirements.
  • Review subcontractor bids and negotiate; ensure bonds and insurance are in place.
  • Review pay requests, approve invoices, and ensure closeout docs are submitted.
  • Ensure change order pricing covers costs and schedule impacts; obtain approvals.
  • Provide preconstruction services such as POC alignment, schedule with WBS, and budget planning.
  • Administer vendor closeout, final monies, and project completion reports.
