Job summary

Austin-Industrial is seeking a Construction Project Manager in Houston to lead project teams, manage contracts, and coordinate planning under Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) principles. The role emphasizes rigorous cost control, schedule integrity, safety, and stakeholder communication.

The candidate should hold a four-year technical degree with PMP certification or the ability to obtain one within a year, and demonstrate strong understanding of construction principles and contract administration.

Qualifications

  • Four year degree in technical discipline.
  • PMP certified or able to achieve certification within 1 year.
  • Understanding of engineering or construction principles.
  • Read and interpret project drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to forecast cost and manage resources in line with project needs.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
  • Experience managing Lump Sum, Unit Price, Time & Material projects.
  • Contribute to project pursuit efforts and present to groups or in interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Read the prime contract and ensure all reporting obligations are identified and met.
  • Set up and manage document control system including drawings, submittals, RFIs, and correspondence.
  • Develop detailed scope of work for subcontracts with technical requirements and reporting.
  • Review subcontractor bids and negotiate agreements; ensure bonds and insurance are in place.
  • Review pay requests and sign pay applications; manage subcontract closeout documents.
  • Manage change orders and ensure they are included in job cost.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, including WBS and IWP alignment.
  • Perform safety, quality, and project administration duties and reporting.
