Job summary

TMG Construction is seeking a Construction Intern in Virginia, open to current engineering and construction management students. You will assist the Project Management team with day-to-day activities, shop drawings, RFIs, document control, and project scheduling.

You will learn change management, estimating, and quantity surveying while supporting field operations and safety compliance. This paid internship offers growth and industry exposure.

Qualifications

• Current student pursuing a B.S. degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related degree.
• Solid understanding of spreadsheets, Email, and other construction industry software.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds and walk job sites.
• Clean driving record to facilitate material pickup.
• Team player with positive attitude and customer focus.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support the Project Manager, Superintendent, or other management roles in the construction lifecycle, including estimating, contracting, buyout, administration, and closeout.
• Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining project controls tracking status, changes, RFIs, shop drawings, submittals, quality controls, safety, and financial performance.
• Work with SMEs to create, review, and process shop drawings and submittals documenting the construction process.
• Support change management: update logs, route documents to vendors, obtain pricing, develop estimates and proposals, write change orders.
• Assist in quantity surveying using digitizers, 3D modeling software, and paper-based processes to summarize scope and quantities.
• Participate in developing and monitoring project schedules and using scheduling software.
• Learn to ensure compliance with contract terms and legal requirements to prevent rework and delays.
• Gain experience with closeout processes to ensure timely completion.
