Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Chicago, IL is seeking an Engineering Intern to perform tasks applying standard engineering techniques and assist lead engineers on project duties and design updates. The role varies by market segment, with a focus on construction phase services within the design-build process.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s in Construction Management, Engineering or related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA, strong communication and leadership skills, and legal work authorization

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program.
Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education program in a field related to the work done in the department.
Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.

Responsibilities

Perform tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
Assist lead engineers with various project duties and design updates.
Support construction phase services in the design-build process, including safety, health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations, quality, and project management.
