Job summary

Burns & McDonnell seeks an Engineering Intern in Minneapolis/St Paul to support standard engineering tasks, assist lead engineers with project duties, and update designs across market segments.

Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills are essential; prior internship experience is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field.
  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.
  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
  • Prior internship and/or related experience preferred.
  • Involvement on campus or in the community.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without requiring future sponsorship for employment visa status.

Our Engineering Interns are responsible for performing tasks requiring the application of standard engineering techniques and procedures. This includes standard design of engineering systems, correcting and updating designs, assisting lead engineers with various project duties, and other duties assigned.


Specific assignments and project work vary depending on the market segments. Please see below for information on each market:


Construction

The Construction group is responsible for construction phase services in the design-build process and support for safety and health, estimating, pre-construction, field operations, quality and project management. This includes multiple project execution approaches, including self-perform, multi-subcontractor, construction only and program management.


Qualifications


  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering or related field from an accredited program.

  • Currently enrolled, and in good standing, in a post-secondary education and/or technical certificate program in a field related to the work done in the department.

  • Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.

  • Prior internship and/or related experience preferred.

  • Involvement on campus or in the community.

Compensation

$18.00-34.00 Hourly


The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.

Interns may participate in our 401(k) retirement program provided plan eligibility requirements are met. Sick leave is accrued based on the actual number of hours worked.
