Job summary

Swinerton Management & Consulting seeks an Assistant Project Manager / Project Engineer to oversee budgets, procurement, and scheduling, while coordinating with owners, architects, and subcontractors.

The role requires 5–8 years in field construction management, with supervisory experience. Strong drafting, computer, and contract-law knowledge are essential to ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery.

Qualifications

• Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural degree or equivalent experience.
• Field construction management experience (5-8 years, including supervisory skills).

Responsibilities

• Estimate and establish budgets and contract price (GMP/Lump Sum).
• Negotiate cost-effective subcontract and material purchases.
• Set up and implement job procedures to assure timely buyout, submittal approvals and material delivery.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Owner, Architect and Subcontractors.
• Collaborate with Superintendent to develop and implement safety plans.
• Maintain timely and accurate reporting to management.
• Manage, train, and supervise project team per company policy.
• Organize regular meetings for management and subcontractors.
• Review contract conditions; ensure compliance with terms.
• Document significant project events (accidents, delays, change orders).
• Direct preconstruction services and activities.
• Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontract bid packages.
• Assist with business development and participate in interviews.
• Maintain quality control and project integrity.
• Support estimating staff (bid item specialist).
• Mitigate claims and conflicts.
• Complete all project close-out procedures.
• Conduct warranty follow-ups (1-year).
• Complete project with full or enhanced fee.
