Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking undergraduates for a hands-on internship across office and field assignments in construction. You will assist project teams through all project phases from bidding to completion and gain exposure to bid processes, cost estimation, scheduling, and documentation.

You will work on activities such as quantity take-off, layout, surveys, shop drawing reviews, RFIs, and coordination with owners, architects, and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students pursuing hands-on practical experience in construction.
• Learning engineering and technical aspects of the project in field and office.
• Assisting with bid process, cost estimation, scheduling and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams in managing construction projects from bidding to final completion.
• Assist with quantity take-off, layout, surveys, shop drawing reviews and logs maintenance.
• Interface with subcontractors & suppliers; attend weekly progress meetings.
• Assist with reviewing construction documents, revisions, and permits.
• Support cost control, scheduling, estimating and project management tasks.
• Assist with project closeout, punchlists and change orders.

Education

Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management
