Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is seeking an Engineering/Construction undergraduate intern for hands-on experience in managing construction projects from bidding through final completion. Interns will work on both office and jobsite assignments, with some relocation to remote sites as needed.

Open to undergraduates pursuing a BS in engineering disciplines or construction management. 10–12 week program, typically 40 hours per week, with housing opportunities in certain situations.

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students interested in gaining hands-on practical experience in the construction field.
• Qualified applicants will assist project teams in managing construction projects including all phases from bidding to final completion.

Responsibilities

• Assist with quantity take-off and layout on projects.
• Review shop drawings and maintain logs.
• Review RFI responses and maintain logs.
• Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers; attend weekly progress meetings.
• Assist with scheduling, budgeting, value engineering and project management.

Education

Bachelor of Science in an Engineering discipline, Engineering Technology or Construction Management, Construction Technology.
