Job summary

Kids for the Future is seeking a Construction Engineer to support planning, coordination, and execution of commercial projects from preconstruction through closeout. You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, architects, engineers, owners, and vendors to ensure safety, accuracy, schedule adherence, and budget compliance.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, technically capable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Architecture, or related field preferred.
• Previous commercial construction experience preferred.
• Understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and administration.
• Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and other documents for accuracy.
• Prepare, track, and distribute RFIs.
• Manage the submittal process including subcontractor submissions and reviews.
• Maintain current drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and project documentation.
• Assist with subcontractor and vendor coordination.
• Review subcontractor scopes of work and identify gaps or conflicts.
• Assist with project scheduling and tracking of critical activities.
• Participate in project meetings and prepare minutes and follow-up items.
• Track material procurement, lead times, deliveries, and scheduling concerns.
• Assist with change orders and documentation of scope changes.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with estimating and cost analysis.
• Monitor project costs and assist with budget tracking and forecasting.
• Coordinate with architects/engineers to resolve design issues.
• Visit project sites to monitor progress and verify contract compliance.
• Assist with quality-control inspections and safety documentation.
• Support safety policies and identify safety concerns on sites.
• Assist with punch lists, closeout documentation, warranties, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings.
• Maintain professional communication with owners, subcontractors, design professionals, and team members.
• Identify risks and communicate issues to PMs and Superintendents promptly.
