Job summary

The Christman Company seeks Assistant Project Engineer Interns for a Summer Internship Program. Gain hands-on experience across markets.

Undergrad Sophomore–Senior in civil engineering, construction management, or related field. GPA 3.0+ preferred; prior internship in commercial construction helps.

You will provide administrative and technical project support, assist with RFIs/submittals, inspections, daily reports, safety planning, and log updates.

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry is preferred.
• Participation or leadership in student organizations or extracurricular activities.

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with RFIs, document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.
