Job summary

The Christman Company invites undergraduate students to join our Summer Internship Program as Assistant Project Engineer Interns in Oklahoma City. You will support project teams with administrative and technical tasks, including RFI processing, document control, submittal tracking, cost tracking, and schedule updates.

You will work with project managers and superintendents to learn inspection coordination, coordinate with inspectors, and observe safety practices while gaining hands-on experience

Qualifications

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Responsibilities

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updates.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during project meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with inspections, inspection logs, and scheduling.
• Update contract drawings to reflect changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage progress and photos.
• Promote safety awareness and report concerns to supervisors.
• Support logistics for safety initiatives listed in the site safety plan.

The Christman Company is looking for Assistant Project Engineer Interns for the upcoming Summer Internship Program! As a valued member of our operations team, you will have opportunities to gain hands-on experience during either project planning and/or construction phases.

What You Will Do:

As an Assistant Project Engineer Intern, you play a crucial part in supporting the construction project team. Primary daily responsibilities of this role include, but not limited to:

• Provides administrative and technical support to the project team.
• Assists with Request for Information (RFI), document control and management, creation and tracking of submittals, cost tracking, and schedule updated.
• Assist in summarizing important discussions, questions, and decisions raised during regular project team meetings, owner meetings, and weekly subcontractor meetings.
• Reads through and understands specification books to ensure compliance and project quality.
• Assist the Project Manager with identifying necessary inspections, create project-specific inspection log according to Christman standards, establish relationships with inspectors, schedule inspections, and ensure readiness for inspection.
• Assist in updating contract drawings to reflect all approved changes and ensure trade contractor document updates.
• Assist Superintendents with daily reports and manage all progress and quality photos.
• Model safety awareness and planning at all times while observing safety practices and report any concerns to the Project Superintendent or Project Manager.
• Supports the logistics process for all safety initiatives listed in the site-specific safety plan.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

Required experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Active, full-time Sophomore-Senior level student pursuing a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA

Preferred experience, knowledge, and skills for this role include:

• Previous work or internship experience in the commercial construction industry.
• Shows participation and/or leadership roles in student organizations or extracurricular club activities.
