Job summary

RBA Builders is seeking a Project Engineer Level 2 in Fountain Valley, CA to support commercial projects from start to finish. You will work with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients, applying construction experience to help plan, coordinate, and execute tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Ability to read/interpret construction plans, scopes, and specifications.
• Working knowledge of scheduling tools and project management platforms.
• Procore or a similar platform for project documentation, coordination, and tracking.
• Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry practices.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work effectively across teams.
• Ability to independently review project documents, identify potential issues, and recommend solutions.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Bluebeam preferred.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills; manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive problem-solving and moving tasks forward with minimal oversight.
• Dependability, punctuality, and a professional, positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Support field operations and coordinate work across different project types and scopes.
• Review drawings, specifications, reports, and other project documents and understand their impact on execution.
• Manage submittals, shop drawings, project documentation, and logs.
• Coordinate RFIs, change orders, and cost tracking with project teams.
• Contribute to estimating work, including bid packages, scope analysis, and subcontractor proposals.
• Help manage project schedules, procurement activities, and critical path milestones.
• Partner with Project Managers and Superintendents on daily execution, problem-solving, and closeout.
• Build productive relationships with subcontractors, architects, clients, and internal teams.
• Promote jobsite safety and ensure procedures and documentation are followed.
• Organize and prioritize multiple responsibilities and deadlines.
