Job summary

TrueBuild Group is seeking a motivated Project Engineer with roughly 2-5 years of commercial construction experience. This role offers exposure to preconstruction, estimating, procurement, field operations, and project execution while working with the President and senior staff on South Florida projects.

Responsibilities

  • Review drawings and specifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work.
  • Solicit and follow up with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review subcontractor proposals and bid level efforts.
  • Prepare RFIs and submittals.
  • Coordinate procurement and long-lead material tracking.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare minutes.
  • Visit project sites and support field startup.

TrueBuild Group is a growing commercial general contractor specializing in private and public-sector construction projects throughout South Florida. Our work includes new construction, renovations, public facilities, water and wastewater infrastructure, libraries, community centers, parks, and commercial construction projects.

You'll gain hands‑on experience in estimating, project management, procurement, field operations, and project execution while working directly with the company's President. Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Project Engineer with approximately 2-5 years of commercial construction experience who wants to develop into a future Project Manager.

This position provides exposure to the complete construction lifecycle - from preconstruction and estimating through project execution and closeout.

You’ll work closely with the company’s President, Project Managers, and Superintendents while developing the technical and leadership skills needed to manage commercial construction projects independently.

The ideal candidate is organized, technically strong, eager to learn, and enjoys solving problems in a fast-paced environment. This position is primarily office-based in Palm Beach Gardens with regular travel to project sites throughout South Florida.

Compensation
  • $70,000-$85,000 annually, based on experience.

Primary Responsibilities
Preconstruction:
  • Review construction drawings and specifications.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs using Bluebeam.
  • Assist in developing scopes of work.
  • Solicit and follow up with subcontractors and suppliers.
  • Review and organize subcontractor proposals.
  • Assist with bid leveling and scope comparisons.
  • Review project addenda and identify scope impacts.
  • Prepare draft Schedule of Values (SOVs).
  • Assist with estimate organization and bid preparation.
Project Management:
  • Prepare and track RFIs.
  • Prepare and track submittals.
  • Assist with procurement and long-lead material tracking.
  • Coordinate subcontractor buyout documentation.
  • Assist in preparing change order pricing.
  • Maintain project logs and documentation.
  • Assist with project scheduling and look-ahead planning.
  • Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Coordinate closeout documentation.
  • Support Project Managers and Superintendents throughout project execution.
Field Operations:
  • Visit project sites as required.
  • Assist with project startup and mobilization.
  • Verify field quantities and existing conditions.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents and subcontractors.
  • Assist in resolving field issues.
  • Monitor project progress and documentation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of commercial construction experience.
  • Experience working for a Commercial General Contractor.
  • Ability to read architectural, structural, civil, and MEP drawings.
  • Strong understanding of commercial construction methods.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with municipal or public-sector projects.
  • Experience assisting with estimating or quantity takeoffs.
  • Knowledge of CSI MasterFormat.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
