Velocity Constructors, Inc. is a Colorado-based, employee-owned general contractor specializing in water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

We’re seeking a Project Engineer to support our project teams from planning and procurement through construction and closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent to keep the details, documentation, materials, schedules, and communication moving so the work in the field can keep moving too.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or related field, or equivalent construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; manage multiple deadlines.
• Experience with water/wastewater or heavy civil construction is a plus.

• Assist the Project Manager with contract administration, planning, scheduling, procurement, cost control, and change-order management.
• Create and maintain project schedules with input from Project Managers, Superintendents, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Set up and maintain project documentation and tracking logs, including submittals, RFIs, contracts, deliveries, and spare parts.
• Attend project progress meetings and communicate action items and outstanding needs.
• Assist Project Managers with project billings and change-order management.

We’re currently seeking a Project Engineer to support our project teams from planning and procurement through construction and closeout. This role works closely with the Project Manager and Project Superintendent, helping keep the details, documentation, materials, schedules, and communication moving so the work in the field can keep moving too.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Read and understand project plans, specifications, contracts, and technical documents.
• Assist the Project Manager with contract administration, planning, scheduling, procurement, cost control, and change-order management.
• Support project buyout and procurement, including preparation of purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
• Create and maintain project schedules with input from Project Managers, Superintendents, suppliers, and subcontractors.
• Set up and maintain project documentation and tracking logs, including submittals, RFIs, contracts, deliveries, and spare parts.
• Procure, review, submit, distribute, and track submittals from subcontractors and vendors through approval.
• Create, submit, and track RFIs and follow through on outstanding responses.
• Track material deliveries and lead times and coordinate with vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, engineers, and Owner representatives.
• Perform material takeoffs and assist with ordering materials for jobsite delivery as directed.
• Assist with required project permits, including dewatering and SWMP requirements when applicable.
• Work with Superintendents to help plan safe and accurate equipment and infrastructure installations.
• Attend project progress meetings and communicate action items and outstanding needs.
• Assist Project Managers with project billings and change-order management.
• Help track project costs, commitments, procurement status, and other information needed to keep the project team informed.
• Gather and organize project closeout documentation, including lien releases, O&M documentation, and other contract-required closeout items.
• Maintain consistent communication with Project Managers, Superintendents, field teams, design engineers, owners, subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by the Senior Project Engineer and Project Manager.

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent construction experience.
• Ability to read and understand construction plans, specifications, and technical documents.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines, documents, and project priorities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable communicating and following up with field teams, subcontractors, vendors, engineers, and project owners.
• Working knowledge of construction project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, schedules, procurement, and change orders.
• Ability to work independently while staying closely connected with the Project Manager and field team.
• A proactive mindset, you follow the trail, ask questions, and keep outstanding items moving instead of waiting for someone else to find them.
• Experience with water/wastewater or heavy civil construction is a plus.

Salary: $84k-$93k annually DOE
