Job summary

Cleanwater1, Inc. and its subsidiary Velocity Dynamics, LLC seek a Manager of Projects in Grain Valley, Missouri to lead the Project Management function and provide engineering oversight for water and wastewater treatment projects.

This exempt role reports to the Director of Operations and requires strong leadership, multi-project management, and customer engagement across engineering, manufacturing, and service teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of project engineering, project management, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to interpret mechanical, process, electrical, and construction drawings.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience managing multiple complex projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Project Management team to ensure high-quality project execution.
  • Provide planning, budget oversight, and quality control for projects.
  • Coordinate with customers, agents, construction companies on submittals and plans.
  • Review specifications and drawings to ensure scope accuracy and compliance.
  • Provide technical oversight for submittals, BOMs, equipment selection, and manuals.
  • Coordinate with Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Service teams.
  • Manage project risks, schedules, resources, quality metrics, and communications.
  • Oversee the company’s largest and most important projects and staff.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.

Job description

Velocity Dynamics, LLC (VeloDyne Systems), a Cleanwater1, Inc. company, is a water industry leader in processing chemicals used for water and wastewater treatment. VeloDyne Systems is one of the most dynamic and fastest growing companies in the water infrastructure market with a portfolio of proprietary and patented technologies targeting water and wastewater infrastructure improvement.

The Manager of Projects will be responsible for leading the Project Management function while providing technical engineering oversight for the execution of standard and custom water and wastewater treatment projects. This role requires a balance of engineering expertise, project leadership, customer engagement, and operational management. The successful candidate will have a strong engineering background and proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams through project execution from order release through customer acceptance. The position will report to the Director of Operations and is based in Grain Valley, Missouri.

Essential Job Functions
  • Manage the day-to-day activities of the Project Management team to ensure consistent, high-quality project execution.
  • Provide overall planning, management, quality control, budget oversight, and completion of projects.
  • Work with customers/agents and construction companies to prepare technical submittal documents, project materials, and project plans.
  • Review customer specifications, construction drawings, and contract requirements to ensure project scope accuracy.Ensure selected materials and equipment comply with component specification documents.
  • Provide technical engineering oversight for submittals, bills of material, equipment selection, and O&M manuals.
  • Coordinate with Applications Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Service teams.
  • Manage project risks, schedules, resources, quality metrics, and customer communications.
  • Manage the company’s largest and most important projects, ensuring proper planning, communication, execution, and delivery.
  • Manage direct reporting staff in alignment with the above responsibilities.
  • Schedule and assign work to direct reporting staff based on their individual skills and workload.
  • Mentor and provide regular performance feedback, regular performance appraisals and, on an as-needed basis, performance improvement initiatives and disciplinary action.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within project execution processes.
  • Travel to customer sites as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years of project engineering, project management, or related experience.
  • 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Adobe Acrobat.

Physical Demands
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use computer monitors for most of the workday.
  • Ability to work in office, industrial, and construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license and/or PMP certification.
  • Experience in municipal water and wastewater industries.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and ERP software.
  • Experience with industrial controls, instrumentation, and process equipment.
Work Location
  • Approximately 90% Office.
  • Approximately 10% Customer Jobsites and manufacturing facilities.
  • May be exposed to weather conditions, industrial facilities, chemicals, and construction environments.
  • Appropriate PPE and training will be provided.

This is an exempt position. Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary range for this position is between $100,000.00 and $130,000.00 per year. Benefits package and incentives are provided. We generally offer employees working 21 hours per work or more medical, dental, vision, along with voluntary ancillary benefits. The Company has a 401(k)-match program and has company‑paid life and AD&D insurance available for eligible employees.
