Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant in Haymarket, VA to own project-based accounting and drive financial visibility across the business. You’ll partner with Project Managers and leadership to understand job costs, forecasts, and profitability while supporting close processes and reporting.

You’ll work in a growing construction-focused environment, helping to implement scalable accounting practices and strengthen controls as the organization expands.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of accrual accounting and the full accounting cycle.
• Experience with month-end close, GL accounting, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Construction or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Hands-on experience with WIP and job cost accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and analytical capabilities.
• Comfortable partnering with Project Managers and operational leadership.

Responsibilities

• Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close.
• Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and balance sheet schedules.
• Prepare and analyze WIP schedules and job cost reports.
• Analyze project profitability, margins, cost-to-complete, and over/under billings.
• Partner directly with Project Managers on project forecasts and financial reporting.
• Support project revenue recognition and billing.
• Review job costs, change orders, commitments, and project-related financial activity.
• Assist with AP, AR, customer billing, and collections.
• Prepare financial reporting and analysis for management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, audits, and year-end activities.
• Help improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting as the company grows.
