Job summary

SolomonEdwards is seeking an experienced Accountant to manage job costing and project accounting, reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, and partnering with operations in Schaumburg, IL.

Responsibilities include project cost tracking, customer billing, month-end close, variance analysis, and ASC 606 revenue recognition, with strong emphasis on cross-functional collaboration and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience preferred.
• Experience with project accounting, job costing, or construction accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, project cost tracking, and financial reporting.
• Ability to analyze financial results, investigate variances, and communicate findings effectively.

Responsibilities

• Maintain project accounting records including costs, billings, invoices, change orders, and documentation.
• Partner with project managers and operations to review performance, budgets, forecasts, and margin trends.
• Prepare project financial reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, variances, and profitability summaries.
• Support monthly close: journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and WIP/deferred revenue schedules.
• Calculate percent complete and ensure ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Review A/P coding and documentation for project assignment accuracy.
• Assist with customer invoicing, collections, and A/R reconciliations.
• Analyze cost variances and identify risks and corrections.
• Prepare schedules and docs for audits and year-end.
