Job summary

CWS Construction Group Inc, a public works general contracting and construction management firm based in Novato, California, is seeking an Accounts Payable, Payroll & Assistant Project Accountant to join our team.

This role supports our accounting and project financial operations, handling accounts payable, payroll, project accounting, and financial reporting in a fast-paced construction environment with a strong emphasis on accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounts payable experience required.
• 2+ years of payroll experience required.
• Strong understanding of Excel required.
• Construction accounting or project accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including debits and credits, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and general ledger reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Process, review, code, and verify accounts payable transactions for accuracy and proper documentation.
• Manage payroll process from start to finish, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Assist with project accounting and financial administration for construction projects.
• Review and enter project-related invoices, costs, and expenses; track project costs and maintain job cost records.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities and audit preparation.
