Job summary

Bel-Aire Mechanical in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations, month-end close, reconciliations, and project accounting for construction projects.

The ideal candidate has solid GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This onsite role offers growth toward senior accounting positions within a dynamic mechanical and plumbing services company.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum 2+ years of accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP.
• Experience preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting schedules.
• Prepare analyses and roll-forward schedules.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Assist with job cost accounting and project-related tracking.
• Review project costs, labor allocations, and coding accuracy.
• Maintain WIP schedules and reporting; revenue recognition processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations, cash analyses, and cash flow reporting.
• Assist with customer billing and collections as needed.
• Support annual audits, SOX compliance, and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
