Job summary

BJ Baas Builders, Inc. in Cambridge, MN is seeking a Project Manager to plan, lead, and deliver construction projects from start to finish. The role includes budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and ensuring permits are secured well in advance.

This position requires strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills, plus experience with common PM tools. The ideal candidate will manage multiple scopes (multi-family, retail, industrial, medical, religious and education)

Qualifications

• 2 or 4-year degree in a related field preferred.
• Previous construction experience is highly valued.
• Strong communication skills - verbal and written.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
• High attention to detail.
• Basic computer skills, Excel, Outlook, Project, and Bluebeam a plus.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, strong work ethic, and willing to learn.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds; bend, stoop, kneel, and endure walking/standing.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate and manage construction projects.
• Some bidding and estimating as needed.
• Assurance that all permits, including utility permits, are in place well ahead of time.
• Perform Subcontractor qualification to assure fit, stability, and safety practices.
• Issuance of sub-contractor agreements for new projects.
• Managing sub-contracts and budgets throughout construction.
• Oversight of project construction activity, material orders, and subcontractor management.
• Budget management and reporting changes to manager.
• All project financial work in Sage and Sage 100.
• Schedule creation and management using Microsoft Project.
• Coordinate with Superintendent for documentation, quality control, and timely material deliveries.
• Maintain strong client interaction to foster referrals.
• Travel to project sites for walk-throughs, punch list, and inspections as needed.
