Job summary

CATON CONSTRUCTION GROUP is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join our accounting team at our corporate office in Troy, Virginia. The role is in-person and focuses on compiling construction payroll, providing weekly/bi-weekly gross pay reports, and reconciling final payrolls.

The successful candidate will handle onboarding support, respond to payroll inquiries, and ensure compliance with multi-state tax rules, DBE/EEO requirements, and Davis Bacon reporting.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of payroll administration experience, preferably in construction/government contracts and multi-state environments.
• Ability to resolve issues related to earnings, taxes and payroll inquiries.
• Understanding of payroll-related GL accounts and GAAP reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist and support operations with timely and accurate payroll time reporting.
• File and maintain employee data and payroll documents in an orderly manner.
• Process weekly payroll cycles and ensure correct hours reporting across jobs.
• Export/import data between payroll systems and reconcile for data integrity.
• Prepare weekly certified payroll reports for Davis Bacon Act projects.
• Collect, review and provide certified payroll reports from subcontractors
• Monthly reporting of subcontractor payments to government agencies
• Ensure compliance with EEO, OJT, and DBE requirements for each job
• Assist with onboarding and audits; participate in pre-employment checks
