Job summary

McKinstry in Seattle, WA is hiring a Payroll Specialist to join the Finance and Accounting team. You will manage weekly payroll across field crews, office staff, and union rules, ensuring accurate data validation and timely processing within a complex environment.

You’ll handle data movements, cross-system validation, and deductions while supporting balancing, reporting, and case resolution. Advanced Excel and ERP familiarity are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree or equivalent experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business preferred.
• 2+ years of payroll processing experience required; construction, union payroll, or multi-system environment strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly payroll for assigned employee populations.
• Execute payroll with prevailing wage rates and union pay rules as applicable.
• Manage data movement via system imports/exports and validate loads.
• Perform in-cycle cross-system data validation and resolve discrepancies in real time.
• Process deductions including health benefits, 401(k), union dues, garnishments.
• Support pre- and post-cycle balancing, exception reporting, and reconciliation tasks.
