Job summary

Ben Hur Construction Co. is seeking a skilled Payroll Accountant to oversee day-to-day payroll operations across multiple locations.

You will process weekly hourly payroll for about 250 employees (union and non-union), ensuring accurate tax withholdings and regulatory compliance. You will collaborate with HR on new hires, onboarding, and open enrollment, provide ad hoc payroll reporting, and support E-Verify and year-end processes while maintaining rigorous confidentiality and training teammates

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Finance, Business Admin or Accounting with 5+ years of payroll experience preferred.
• Experience with Viewpoint Vista and ADP is a plus.
• Construction or manufacturing payroll experience preferred.
• Comprehensive operational and technical expertise in federal and state employment taxation.

Responsibilities

• Process weekly hourly payroll, union and non-union.
• Assist the payroll field focused employees.
• Act as a backup for processing exempt employee payroll.
• Participate in generating W-2 and other documents for employees as required by federal, state and local regulations.
• Monitor, evaluate and improve, if necessary, the internal controls of the payroll cycle.
• Oversee payroll employee set-up, onboarding and E-Verify.
• Work closely with HR department to process new hires and open enrollment.
• Perform all ad hoc reporting requests for internal clients.
• Process Certified Payroll reports.
• Adhere to the highest degree of professional standards and strict confidentiality in matters that require discretion.
• Develop training materials and provide training to the team and customers.
