Job summary

Berkel & Company Contractors, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Payroll Associate responsible for detailed analysis and processing of field payroll information for union and non-union employees on construction job sites nationwide. Monday–Friday 8 AM to 5 PM with potential overtime to meet weekly deadlines.

Responsibilities include E-Verify, I-9 compliance, payroll data entry, and various reporting duties to ensure timely payroll processing and accuracy across sites.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in basic mathematical calculations.
• Excellent attention to detail is critical.
• Good reading and comprehension skills.
• Must communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
• Proficiency with MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Ability to operate a PC, printer and general office equipment.

Responsibilities

• Add new hires using the federal E-Verify system; ensure I-9 compliance.
• Enter child support, garnishments, banking, and related data.
• Assist with Certified Payrolls, Davis-Bacon and state reporting requirements; EOE reporting.
• Maintain field checkbooks; answer questions from field employees.
• Handle ongoing filing; perform other duties as assigned.
