Metro Detroit construction company in Southfield is seeking a Payroll Accountant to join its accounting team. The role focuses on payroll processing for field and administrative staff and union reporting, with opportunities to gain exposure to job costing and project accounting.

Job description

A well-established Metro Detroit construction company is looking to add a Payroll Accountant to its accounting team. This is a great opportunity for someone with construction payroll experience who wants to broaden their accounting skill set over time and take on increased responsibility within a stable, experienced team.

The position will initially have a strong emphasis on payroll and union reporting, supporting both field and administrative employees. As the individual develops, there will be opportunities to gain additional exposure to job costing, project accounting, and general ledger responsibilities.

What You’ll Do:

• Process and review payroll for field and administrative employees
• Prepare weekly and monthly union reporting
• Reconcile payroll-related GL accounts
• Assist with union labor rates and labor reporting
• Support certified payroll and other construction-related reporting
• Develop into additional job cost, project accounting, and GL responsibilities over time

What We’re Looking For:

• Construction payroll/accounting experience
• Experience with union payroll/reporting strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Comfortable working with Microsoft Office and accounting/payroll systems
• COINS experience is a plus
• Someone who wants to grow beyond payroll and develop a broader accounting background
