Job description

Every fiber build we deliver connects a community to the network it will depend on for years to come. As Director of Fiber Construction Operations, you’ll lead the teams and operations that make this possible across the Phoenix metro area and Arizona. You’ll oversee supervisors, crews, subcontractors, fleet, and equipment, while driving performance across the region with a focus on safety, schedule, quality, and financial results.

This is a hands-on leadership role that balances operational oversight with time in the field. You’ll manage budgets, track productivity, and price new work while staying connected to job sites and clients. You’ll monitor progress, help supervisors resolve challenges, and determine the right mix of Telecon crews and subcontractors for each project. Reporting to the Vice-President of US Infra, you’ll also collaborate with senior leadership on staffing, resource planning, and regional strategy.

You bring 10+ years of experience leading field crews and managing construction projects, ideally in telecom civil construction. You know how to scale operations, improve productivity, and maintain high safety standards. You lead by example, build strong relationships with clients and vendors, and look for lasting solutions rather than temporary fixes. Now, you’re ready to take the next step and lead an entire region, shaping its performance, people, and growth.

YOU WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO:
  • Lead all construction activity across Phoenix metro and Arizona, including health and safety, administration, subcontractor management, client relationships, and field operations.
  • Plan projects and workloads with the Senior Director and Vice-President to meet budget, schedule, and client commitments.
  • Build the construction strategy for each project, balancing Telecon crews and equipment with subcontractor support.
  • Lead and develop Supervisors, and work with senior leaders and the Talent & Culture team to keep the right people in place.
  • Drive a strong health, safety, and quality culture, enforce company procedures, and set the example yourself.
  • Set and track financial and productivity key performance indicators (KPIs), report on business unit performance, and propose corrective action when targets slip.
  • Manage fleet, equipment, materials, and resources across the region to improve financial performance.
  • Identify and resolve technical, operational, and organizational issues before they turn into roadblocks.
  • Support estimates and request for proposal (RFP) responses with your knowledge of the local construction market and pricing.
  • Meet with key clients, visit active projects, and keep client satisfaction high.
  • Communicate and model Telecon’s vision and culture across the team.
THIS ROLE IS FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND QUALITIES:
  • 10+ years of field supervision and project management experience in construction.
  • Experience in telecommunications civil construction projects required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or business, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Track record of leading continuous improvement efforts and raising productivity through process changes.
  • Ability to work independently and build effective relationships with internal teams, management, vendors, outside agencies, and community groups.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification an asset.

*This position requires successful completion of background check / MVR review / pre-employment drug screening, as applicable.
