Job summary

Grand Portage Trading Post is seeking a Construction Mechanic to repair and maintain heavy equipment, trucks, and fleet vehicles, ensuring reliable operation across daily tasks and on-site operations.

You will follow diagrams, manuals, and engineering specs, perform preventive maintenance, and troubleshoot malfunctions, with a focus on safety and quality in a rugged, border-crossing environment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of machinery and own tools.
• Cross US/Canadian Borders.
• Valid driver's license and be insurable with RTC auto insurance; CDL is an asset.
• Background check and pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• American Indian Preference will apply.

Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instruction and engineering specifications; trouble shooting malfunctions.
