Job Description

The Construction Mechanic performs tasks requiring physical labor on construction sites. They assist construction craft workers or electricians by carrying tools, materials, and helping set up equipment. The role involves tasks of varying complexity, from simple to potentially hazardous.

Job Duties

• Lead a specific phase of work under the Foreman’s supervision and direct others to complete it.
• Identify and direct heavy equipment operators during excavation; operating small machinery like skid steers or backhoes is a plus.
• Cut and thread steel pipe, assist in fitting and installing underground and above-ground tanks.
• Assist with grade shooting and simple paperwork.
• Maintain a clean and organized job site as directed by the foreman.
• Ensure safety protocols are followed, including signage, barricades, PPE, and hazard awareness.
• Keep tools and tools of the trade organized and maintained.
• Manage job site inventory as instructed.
• Communicate effectively and plan ahead to prevent issues.
• Present a professional company image and maintain personal appearance.

Requirements

• High school Diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with ability to operate construction trucks and tow small trailers, with no recent DUI convictions.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Basic math and mechanical skills.
• Experience in HVAC, pipefitting, petroleum construction, or related fields.
• Pass drug screening, criminal background check, and MVR if driving.
• Physical ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds repeatedly, with frequent bending, stooping, and standing for 8-10 hours daily.
