Job Description
General Responsibilities:
- Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
- Communicate with project team members and clients regarding site conditions, project requirements, and testing results.
- Transport material samples with documentation to laboratories for testing and analysis.
- Prepare and submit data and observations in reports for daily project updates.
- Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
- Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians.
- Adhere to strict safety standards.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct testing, observation, and inspection as trained and instructed.
- Document findings clearly and accurately.
- Perform basic data analysis to verify accuracy before reporting.
- Communicate findings to the Project Manager and team.
- Assist senior technicians with complex tasks.
- Maintain equipment and calibration.
- Follow safety procedures and report concerns.
- Maintain quality standards on all projects.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
- Proficiency with laptops, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- ACI certification in areas such as Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, Concrete Strength Testing Technician, or Radiation Safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation.
- Completion of safety certifications.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.
Preferred Certifications:
- NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical categories.
- ICC certifications in various structural and fireproofing categories.
- American Welding Society (AWS) CAWI.
- ASNT Level II in nondestructive testing areas.
