Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician for our Annapolis Junction, MD office. You will conduct field observations and perform sampling and testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, and related materials on diverse land development projects.

You will prepare daily logs, communicate project progress with the PM, and ensure safety and quality on-site.

Qualifications

• Reliable vehicle for field work and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift and move up to 60–80 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying climates and terrains.
• Attention to detail and safety compliance.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office and tablet-based reporting.
• Ability to read and interpret plans with training.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations at regional jobsites.
• Sample and test construction materials (soil, aggregates, concrete, etc.).
• Prepare accurate daily logs detailing inspections and test results.
• Communicate progress with PM or Operations Manager.
