Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA) seeks a Construction Materials Testing Technician to perform field observations and material testing in the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The role involves independent work and collaboration with engineers and technicians on land development and construction projects.

You will sample and test soils, aggregates, concrete, and related materials, while maintaining accurate logs and ensuring safety and quality.

Qualifications

• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift/move up to 60-80 pounds.
• Must be able to work outdoors in varying climates.
• Effective verbal and written communication required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field observations at regional jobsites.
• Sample and test construction materials (soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, structural steel).
• Prepare detailed daily logs of inspections and test results.
• Communicate project progress with PM/Operations Manager.
