Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates, located in Owings Mills, MD, is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our field team. You will perform soil, aggregates, concrete, and other material tests, conduct field observations, and prepare daily logs documenting inspections and results.

The role requires reliable transportation, ability to lift 60–80 lbs, and strong attention to safety, with training provided and opportunities for certifications such as ACI, NICET, or WACEL.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle for field work.
• Ability to lift 60–80 pounds.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying climates and terrain.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with field sampling/testing preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations at jobsites in the Owings Mills region.
• Sample and test construction materials (soil, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, steel).
• Prepare accurate daily logs outlining inspections and test results.
• Communicate project progress with PM or Operations Manager.
