Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Technician to join our Annapolis Junction, MD office. You will perform field observations, sampling and testing of construction materials, and maintain accurate daily logs documenting inspections and test results.

You will work independently and with a skilled team on land development and construction projects, communicating progress to the PM or Operations Manager and ensuring safety and quality on every site.

Qualifications

• Reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license required.
• Ability to lift 60–80 pounds and work outdoors.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Experience with field testing and data collection preferred.
• Pre-employment requirements must be met; safety-first mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform field observations at regional jobsites.
• Collect samples and perform materials testing.
• Prepare accurate daily logs with test results.
• Communicate project progress to PM/Operations Manager.
