Job summary

ECS Group of Companies in Frederick, MD is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level 2 to perform routine field and laboratory testing under supervision, advancing to greater independence. You will collect data, document results, and support project workflows while developing knowledge of materials testing standards.

Requirements include pursuing an associate to master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, at least one prior ECS internship, and certifications such as

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering, or other degree related to our services
• One internship with ECS or another firm preferred
• Certifications must be completed within stated timeframes: Radiation Safety, Soils I, Concrete I
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 85 pounds several times daily
• Must have valid driver’s license if driving for ECS subsidiary

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation and testing with guidance from senior staff
• Conducts routine testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials with increasing independence
• Documents field conditions and testing results in timely field reports
• Maintains organized field and laboratory equipment
• Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry
• Communicates with contractors, field staff, and project teams regarding testing activities
• Assists with laboratory testing including sample prep, curing, and testing procedures
• Supports project documentation and participates in coordination meetings
