Job summary

ECS Group of Companies is seeking a Construction Materials Testing Intern Level 2 to support field and laboratory testing, data collection, and documentation on our projects. You’ll work under guidance to develop technical competency and professional discipline while upholding ECS core values.

The role emphasizes learning construction practices, testing standards, and project workflows, with opportunities to contribute to field reports and coordination meetings.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an Associate, Bachelor, or Master degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• At least 90 days of related experience, including at least one internship with ECS or another firm.
• One certification must be completed within the 90-day introductory period, and basic certifications within 270 days (Radiation Safety, Soils I, and Concrete I).
• If driving for ECS, a valid driver's license is required.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Ability to read plans, follow directions, and interpret construction documents.
• Proficiency with electronic devices and data entry tools.
• Ability to lift and work in outdoor environments; able to lift 85 pounds multiple times daily.

Responsibilities

• Performs field observation and testing in the field with guidance from senior staff.
• Conducts routine testing of soil, concrete, asphalt, and other materials with increasing independence.
• Documents field conditions and testing results in field reports.
• Maintains field and laboratory equipment and organization.
• Performs basic calculations, data reduction, and data entry tasks.
• Communicates with contractors, field staff, and project teams regarding testing activities and site conditions.
• Notifies supervisors of changes in site conditions, testing needs, or issues.
• Assists with laboratory testing including sample preparation and curing procedures.
• Participates in project meetings and coordination activities.
• Reviews laboratory results and supports project documentation.
