Position Overview

Woolpert is hiring a Construction Manager to join our dynamic Construction, Engineering, and Inspection (CE&I) team at our Indianapolis, IN office. The Construction Manager assists in the construction of public and private infrastructure projects. They work with other Construction Managers, Design Engineers, Project Managers, Practice Leaders, and Market Directors on civil engineering projects for the Aviation, Water, and Transportation markets.

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country where the job is located.

What You Will Do

• Perform construction management duties with increasing responsibility.
• Analyze projects and programs independently.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
• Apply professional judgment and discretion in decision‑making.
• Consistently apply Woolpert procedures.
• Conduct quality control reviews and assist with quality assurance procedures.
• Manage inspections of construction projects and materials for compliance with applicable codes, standards, and approved plans/specifications.
• Ensure inspections are completed according to contract protocols.
• Review and interpret construction documents, site drawings, as‑built drawings, and specifications.
• Resolve minor operational issues and coordinate with other departments.
• Communicate with contractors regarding test failures.
• Manage subordinate managers and professionals in moderate‑complexity groups.
• Contribute to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility.
• Produce daily and weekly reports.

What You Will Bring

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Construction Management degree and/or 5–10+ years of construction experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel).
• Effective interpersonal skills at all levels.
• Comprehensive knowledge of construction management, inspections, methods, and materials.
• Knowledge of contract administration and pay estimates.
• Knowledge of soil analysis, materials, compaction, and density tests.
• Thorough knowledge of engineering practices, including experience on INDOT projects.
• Familiarity with construction observation reporting and procedures.
• Strong daily report writing and accurate quantity tracking.
• Effective communication skills with clients and staff.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
• 10‑Hour OSHA Construction Certificate or ability to obtain it.
• Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and comply with applicable safety codes.
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (a plus).
• DOT certifications or ability to obtain them in a timely manner.
• Material testing certifications or ability to obtain them in a timely manner.
