Summary

Your day as a Construction Manager will be a mix of communication, collaboration, and problem-solving as you oversee all aspects of multiple construction projects from inception to completion. You’ll start by reviewing project updates and progress reports, ensuring Key Performance Indicators like safety, quality, cost, and schedule are on track. A large part of your day will be spent engaging with stakeholders—including internal Sr Leaders and Operations, contractors, engineers, architects, vendors, and regulatory bodies—providing clear and concise updates while facilitating effective decision-making.

Primary Accountabilities
  • Manage all aspects of construction projects from inception to final completion.
  • Provide timely, concise, and transparent communication to operations and stakeholders.
  • Direct general contractors, engineers, architects, and vendors to complete projects satisfying contract requirements.
  • Collaborate with environmental consultants to ensure compliance with laws.
  • Assess project performance via KPIs for safety, quality, cost, and schedule.
  • Create project plans including project charter, schedule, responsibility matrix, risk management, and stakeholder register.
  • Facilitate site surveys, due diligence, and scope of work preparation.
  • Manage budgets, estimates, change orders, invoice reviews, and project closeout.
  • Lead design reviews ensuring accuracy against scope and specifications.
  • Lead permitting processes and negotiate with regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Manage bidding processes and contractor selection recommendations.
  • Oversee field operations from preconstruction to inspections and occupancy.
  • Develop equipment take-offs and orders for each project.
  • Report on project progress, costs, and forecasts regularly.
  • Ensure vendors meet quality and timeline targets, addressing underperformance issues.
  • Manage project deficiencies and ensure timely completion.
  • Promote a safety culture aligned with department guidelines.
  • Handover completed projects after commissioning.
  • This role is remote with up to 50% regional travel, possibly nationwide.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience in operational roles within c-store, fueling, or quick service restaurant sectors.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and life safety laws.
  • Experience with retail fueling systems, refrigeration, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Relevant certifications or education.
Key Qualifications
  • Construction and project management experience.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience (including military service or high school diploma with experience).
