Job summary

Currie & Brown is seeking an experienced MEP Construction Manager to support complex data center construction projects, focusing on MEP systems coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, turnover, and field execution.

The role requires extensive expertise in mission-critical MEP infrastructure and leadership across contractor teams to drive risk management, schedule recovery, and system readiness for live data center environments.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of construction management with MEP/critical systems experience
  • Experience supporting mission-critical/data center projects
  • Coordinating MEP contractors, electrical & mechanical infrastructure, RFIs, submittals, and change processes
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution, UPS, generators, mechanical cooling, and building controls
  • Ability to coordinate multiple contractors in fast-paced environments

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate contractor execution with emphasis on MEP contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning teams
  • Drive day-to-day field coordination, workface readiness, constraint identification and resolution
  • Provide proactive recommendations on MEP execution strategy, schedule recovery, system readiness, and risk mitigation
  • Support commissioning readiness, IST preparation, and turnover activities
  • Maintain weekly look-ahead schedules and constraint logs, RFIs, and submittal tracking
  • Create and manage change management logs with schedule impact assessments

Job description

We are seeking an experienced MEP Construction Manager to support Construction Management leadership in the execution of complex data center construction projects. This role is heavily focused on MEP systems coordination, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover and will serve as an extension of our client's team in driving field execution, risk management, contractor coordination, and critical systems readiness.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in mission-critical MEP infrastructure and a proven track record supporting the successful delivery of large-scale data center projects.

Key Responsibilities
MEP & Construction Coordination
  • Support Construction Management leadership in coordinating contractor execution across all trades, with a strong emphasis on MEP contractors, equipment vendors, and commissioning teams
  • Drive day-to-day field coordination activities, including:
  • Workface readiness
  • Constraint identification and resolution
  • Trade interface management
  • Critical systems integration planning and execution
  • Identify, track, and elevate:
  • Scope conflicts
  • Procurement constraints
  • MEP installation, startup, testing, and commissioning risks
  • Monitor and coordinate:
  • RFIs
  • Field changes
  • MOPs (Methods of Procedure)
  • Work plans
  • MEP-specific technical coordination items
Contractor & Stakeholder Management
  • Support contractor accountability by:
  • Tracking commitments
  • Escalating concerns to Client leadership
  • Coordinate activities across design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and turnover teams
  • Provide proactive recommendations related to MEP execution strategy, schedule recovery, system readiness, and risk mitigation
Commissioning & Critical Systems Readiness
  • Support commissioning readiness, IST preparation, and turnover activities
  • Drive alignment around critical MEP milestones and operational readiness requirements
  • Identify and elevate risks related to MEP system integration, logistics, sequencing, and startup activities
  • Ensure MEP systems are delivered, tested, commissioned, and turned over in accordance with project requirements
  • Weekly look-ahead schedules and constraint logs
  • RFI and submittal tracking logs with aging and ownership accountability
  • Change management logs with schedule impact assessments
  • Weekly project status reports highlighting risks, blockers, and action plans
  • MEP systems readiness reporting, including commissioning status, critical path activities, and risk tracking
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of construction management experience with significant MEP construction, commissioning, or critical systems delivery experience
  • Strong background supporting mission-critical and/or data center construction projects
  • Proven experience coordinating MEP contractors, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, RFIs, submittals, and change management processes
  • Extensive knowledge of mission-critical MEP systems, including:
  • Electrical distribution
  • UPS systems
  • Generators
  • Mechanical cooling systems
  • Building controls
  • Commissioning and startup processes
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple contractors and resolve complex construction challenges in fast-paced environments
  • Proven success leading MEP coordination, system readiness, commissioning, and turnover of critical infrastructure systems
