SIS in Tysons, VA is seeking a motivated Civil Litigation Associate with 3–5 years of civil litigation and trial experience. The role emphasizes taking ownership, direct client interaction, and progressing cases through all phases, including depositions and court hearings.

Ideal candidates will have a J.D. from an accredited law school and Virginia bar admission, with preferred construction/commercial/real estate litigation exposure. Excellent research, writing, and advocacy skills are essential.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school.
• Active Virginia bar admission (Maryland/DC a plus).
• 3–5 years of civil litigation with trial experience.
• Strong legal research, writing and oral advocacy.
• Experience managing cases independently.
• Deposition, hearing and motion practice experience.
• Excellent client communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop litigation strategy from client consultations to resolution.
• Draft pleadings, motions and discovery.
• Take and defend depositions; argue motions in court.
• Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations.
• Collaborate with construction experts and consultants.
• Prepare cases for trial, arbitration and evidentiary hearings.
• Maintain regular client communication throughout matters.
