Job description

Our client is a rapidly growing litigation firm dedicated exclusively to protecting homeowners in disputes with residential contractors, builders, and developers. The firm handles defective construction claims, contract disputes, project delays, mechanic’s liens, warranty issues, payment disputes, and other construction-related litigation. They take pride in helping homeowners navigate some of the most stressful situations they face after investing in their homes.

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated, trial-oriented Associate Litigation Attorney with 3-5 years of civil litigation experience who wants meaningful responsibility, direct client contact, and hand-on courtroom work. Construction litigation experience is helpful but not required — strong litigators with commercial, real estate, or general civil backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys advocacy, takes ownership of their cases, and wants to develop into a confident trial lawyer within a collaborative, mentorship-driven environment.

Responsibilities

You will manage your own caseload from inception through resolution, including:

  • Conducting client consultations and developing litigation strategy
  • Drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Arguing motions in court
  • Participating in mediations and settlement negotiations
  • Working with construction experts and consultants
  • Preparing cases for trial, arbitration, and evidentiary hearings
  • Maintaining consistent communication with clients

You will receive mentorship and guidance from experienced construction litigators while still owning your cases and developing as a trial lawyer.

Qualifications
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active Virginia law license (Maryland and/or D.C. admission a plus)
  • 3-5 years of civil litigation experience
Pay range and compensation package
  • Up to $180,000 base salary (DOE)
  • 401(k) with employer contribution
  • HSA options
  • Paid time off + firm holidays
  • Parental leave
  • Mentorship and advancement opportunities
If you’re a litigator who wants more than routine motion practice, this role offers:
  • Ownership of cases from the start
  • Direct client contact and strategic involvement
  • Frequent courtroom appearances and real advocacy experience
  • A supportive, team-driven environment with mentorship
  • A defined path to becoming a strong, confident trial lawyer
  • Advancement opportunities in a growing, specialized firm
