Job summary

BKF Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector to conduct on-site inspections ensuring compliance with contract requirements and permits. The role involves sampling materials, testing, and verifying records, with oversight from the Resident Engineer or Agency PM.

Applicants should have a college degree or 5+ years in transportation or civil projects, 4+ years in inspection, and a valid California driver’s license. CPII, ICC, ACI, SWPPP, safety certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years' work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years in supervision or inspection of engineering construction work with ability to read complex plans.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and reports on a variety of construction projects.
• Advises Resident Engineer or Agency PM and informs contractors of variances from plans.
• Takes samples of materials, prepares test specimens, and assists in field tests.
• Checks utilities locations to avoid interference with construction work.
• Reviews traffic control plans and project safety.
• Inspects earthwork, asphalt, concrete, and reinforcing steel content.
• Assists in reviewing submittals, RFIs, and CC0s.
• Verifies material acceptability via Certificates of Compliance and test reports.
• Maintains inspection records, diary, and photo log.
