Job summary

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) North Bexar Area Office is hiring Construction Inspector I/II to inspect roadways, bridges, traffic signals, and related structures. You may serve as the sole inspector on smaller projects or assist larger inspections under a licensed engineer.

Responsibilities include calculating payments, monitoring phasing and traffic control plans, documenting progress, and coordinating with contractors.

Qualifications

• High School Grad or Equivalent required.
• Construction Inspector I: no prior experience required.
• Construction Inspector II: 1 year of experience in construction inspection or related fields.
• Valid driver’s license required to operate state vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Inspects construction methods and workmanship to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Calculates payments due contractors for work completed.
• Monitors project phasing and safety plans, and inspects traffic control measures.
• Prepares and maintains project documentation and correspondence.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
