Job summary

Qualifications

• 2+ years of construction related experience preferred but not required.
• KDOT Technician Certification is a plus or must be willing to obtain certification.
• Must be able to travel and stay out of town a week at a time.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, details, specifications, and other contract documents.
• Capable of lifting 50+ pounds and perform on-site inspection and testing.
• Strong written and spoken communication and meticulous record-keeping.

Responsibilities

• Observe and inspect construction projects from start to finish with thorough documentation.
• Read and interpret plans, specs, and contract documents and report deviations.
• Conduct laboratory and field testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and other materials.
• Maintain accurate daily, weekly, and monthly records and communicate findings.
• Attend project meetings to gain insight before and during construction.
• Measure distances accurately and manage quantities with competent math.
