Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a General Ledger Accountant for a 100% onsite role near Bush Airport in Houston, TX. The position supports GL accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in Accounting/Finance and at least 2 years of GL experience, with strong Excel skills and ERP familiarity. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity in a professional office setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of general accounting or general ledger experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP and fundamental accounting principles.
• Experience preparing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end close activities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger to ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Prepare and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Perform account reconciliations including balance sheet and bank reconciliations.
• Support the month-end close process with schedules, analyses, and reconciliations.
• Assist in preparing financial statements (P&L and balance sheets).
• Conduct P&L analysis to identify trends and variances.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies independently.
• Use Excel (PivotTables, lookup functions) for analysis and reporting.
• Collaborate with accounting/finance team on projects and deadlines.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to internal stakeholders.
