Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a Senior Construction Accountant in Houston, TX, to join a growing accounting team. This contractor-to-hire role focuses on GL and project accounting, with emphasis on reconciliations, P&L, and balance sheet analysis.

You will partner with operations and leadership to improve close processes and financial reporting. The role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting or related field and 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in construction.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in a project-based environment.
• Experience in construction, crane and rigging, or similar settings helps.
• Proven ability to perform detailed account reconciliations and close processes.

Responsibilities

• Manage general ledger activities and ensure timely recording of transactions.
• Perform detailed reconciliations, focusing on bank and payroll.
• Analyze P&L and balance sheets to understand performance and drivers.
• Support month-end close with journal entries and schedules.
• Investigate discrepancies and resolve complex accounting issues.
